Tusk Proof History

Tusk Proof Protective Accessories, owned and operated by Bruce and Sharon Carroll, started making and supplying breast plates in 1995 from their own home in Gulgong, NSW.

At the time they also operated the Wild Game Chiller Box. This was a real bonus as it allowed them to see many unnecessary injuries as the pigs came in. Injuries that could have been avoided had the dogs been protected properly.

With this in mind, Bruce and Sharon began working on prototypes for a protective breast plate for the dogs. After about a dozen prototypes, they came up with the 'ultimate' prototype -- which is now known as the 'Ultimate Breast Plate'.

Due to the growing demands of their customers, the company has branched into many complementary areas over the past ten years. Many of the sources for these came from the people they had met.

Bruce, Sharon & kids"Both Sharon and I have hunted pigs since we were kids; I have hunted pigs with rifles and dogs and continue to do so.

A special 'Thanks' must go to Lindsay Finlay, David Woodhead, Andrew Gardener of Gunnedah, and Tony Pizzata.

The number of people we have met over the past ten years is incredible. We still have the first book with all the enquiries we received from people in Australia and New Zealand. Ten books later and we're still going strong.

It's not just about our company being in business for ten years, but the support our customers have given us over that time. If it was not for our customers we would not be where we are today. ...So we would like to thank everybody.

We do what we do best and hunting is our life. We enjoy hearing from and assisting every person who is just starting out. "
